Anita & Denis

Archives for August 2010

August 28, 2010 by Kevin Morris

Had the recent pleasure of photographing Anita & Denis’ wedding which encompassed three counties. Reception in Waterford (this was borderline, but the brides mother gets her way !!), on for photographs in Glencomeragh House in Tipp (very near where they filmed the Bulmers ad. I have been reliably informed) and finally on to Kilkenny for the reception. We also had a stop off in Walls, Anitas local, where they both had a sip of the black stuff – guess from the photo below who had not drunk Guinness before !! All in all a great day, learned some rally driving skills from Anitas brother, rain stayed away, and, despite the amount of time spent travelling, still managed to get all the important photos without any fuss. Draft pics below.

It had been a while since I was in Bailieborough – 25 years or so – but I was still able to find my way around it and to Samanthas house. First obstacle over with, the rest was a doddle – weather was great, fab back garden for pics (even had its own waterfall) , lovely people to deal with etc.

We were off then to a small village in Meath, where the party was in full swing in Samanthas aunts house (right next door to the church !!) Following the lovely ceremony onward to the Radisson Farnham Estate.

There was a nice relaxed feel to the whole days proceedings, the hotel was stunning, and even found a McDs to help sustain me for the long trip home !! I love it when a plan comes together !!

Having met Aisling as a bridesmaid at her sisters wedding I knew that although a little mad, she would be great fun to work with and I was not disappointed. Between herself & Eoin there were only two requests – Eoin had a particular style in mind for a photo of himself & the lads and Aisling just wanted me to “bring the cheese” !! Plenty of cheesy shots of the two of them.  I had a very enjoyable  day photographing the wedding, knowing the family from the previous wedding helped, the great weather was a bonus, and being familiar with the hotel & beach topped it off nicely. The only downer on the day was the swarm of flies that attacked us on Ballymoney beach – some serious photoshop to be done for the beach shots !! The day finished with me praisng the celtic tiger for its one decent legacy – the new motorways !! Less than 60 mins from Ballymoney to the in-laws in Belgard. Just a few draft shots below.

Last minute adjustments for the groom

Check out the brides fab shoes !!

Had good fun on Sunday in studio. Fooled around a bit with lighting set-ups and backgrounds. Have just done a bit of quick processing (between weddings) on a few low key shots of my own kids. For anyone who turned up on the day, don’t despair, all the standard hi-key shots will be processed in due course, your kids will not look like extras from Twilight !! Although there are similarities with my own brood & vampires, up all night, sleep all day and suck you dry till there’s only a shell left !! Only kidding, you gotta love them, and we were probably all the same. Anyway, I have attached a few draft shots of not your typical family shoot.

Took a leisurely stroll with Sarah Jane & Gary down onto the north beach in Donabate for a few pre-wedding shots. Their wedding is on 27th August this year and the idea is that one of the shots from last weeks shoot will be printed big and mounted behind a large board for wedding guests to sign on the day. We were slightly restricted as there were a number of jcbs and dredges on the beach, but the weather was perfect. Am lucky to live so close to a number of beautiful beaches & coves, and I am actually thinking of offering pre-wedding, engagement, anniversary shoots – and maybe even trash the dress shoots – on location around the peninsula.  Find a few draft pics below.

Rarely do I have the luxury of a wedding ceremony & reception within 20 mins of my home. But that was the case on Wednesday when Lorraine & Keith tied the knot in Aughrim Street Church and had the ceremony in the Regency Airport Hotel (via a quick stop-off in the Botanic Gardens). The weather Gods smiled on us  and the happy couple were delighted with the hotel and how they laid things out for them. See below for a few draft shots.
