Sophie & Stephen – Horetown House and Johnstown Castle

Kevin Morris

April 28, 2012 by Kevin Morris

Friday 27th saw me head off down to the sunny south east and thankfully the rain & winds which had been with us for days cleared up. With two fab venues a friendly, relaxed and fun couple and good weather it all fell nicely into place. Kate and her staff at Horetown were very welcoming and got on my good side immediately by offering me coffee, so, caffeined up, I took a stroll around the lovely gardens and the beautifully laid out marquee. After a few shots of the preparations it was off to Johnstown Castle where Rosie had the place looking stunning. I will be back there in September and am already looking forward to it. With a great sense of fun throughout the day the time flew which, to me, was the only problem, as, before we knew it, we were getting the family shots done just before the calling for dinner. I have a few photos from the day in the slideshow below, just click on the play tab (bottom right of the menu) for a look, (and a full screen option too) and, if you happen to know either Sophie or Stephen, feel free to leave a comment for them

You often hear couples talking about putting their own stamp on weddings – those little touches that are unique, well Amy & Colins wedding had quite a few. From the individually designed glasses Amy made for the few drinks at her mams, to reading her promises to Colin from her Iphone, and the bride wearing shoes and socks (albeit quite rock’n’roll blue suede shoes) there were plenty of firsts for me. All in all it was a great day and a pleasure to be involved with, the only problem for me was that fact that by the time the ceremony was over there was less than an hour to the official calling for the meal and we had to high-tail it from Citynorth Hotel to Gormanston College for a few quick photos, then on to Amys’ Aunts (real cool) house nearby and try get back to the hotel in time for a few family photos. I was like a cross between Taz & Speedy Gonzalez !! Luckily the helpful staff of the hotel held back on calling for the meal for a short while, and the hungry guests could help themselves to the Sweet Buffet prepared by Amy & Colin (and helped on the day by Custom Cakes). I have a few pics uploaded below so feel free to have a look. To play the slideshow just click the play button at the bottom right of the menu-bar, there is also an option for full screen (but it might loose a bit of quality)

Its especially nice to get some recognition from your peers, the this end, I have been very fortunate since being awarded my Licentiate with the IPPA (Irish Professional Photographers Association) that many of my images have been awarded numerous crests in our annual competitions. Whereas most of my awards would be in the Wedding Reportage category, I have also received quite a few for Classical Wedding, Bridal Portraiture and also traditional portaits. At both the 2011 and 2012 annual awards I received certificates of excellence for my work and also was a finalist in the prestigious photographer of the year.

See attached slideshow for a small selection of my award winning images which will hopefully be added to over the coming years !!
