My last wedding of 2016 brought me back to Lough Rynn for the wedding of Emma & Raymond. It’s well worth the long drive as the surroundings & staff are second to none – always an enjoyable time there and when added to the laid back & relaaxed attitude of Emma & Raymond it was a lovely way to wrap up the year. we were treated to some stunning winter sunshine as the sun set over the lake, hope you enjoy the pics below.
Most couples pray for the sun on their wedding day, it lifts the spirits, means people can drink “al fresco” and puts everyone in good form……apart from your wedding photographer !!! Strong sun can be much harder to manage than bad weather, people squinting, strong shadows, bleached colours etc….luckily, most professional photographers can handle these conditions. Whereas a dull overcast day, with some cloud detail would be perfect for photos, you can use the sun to your advantage. Recently I was back in the stunning Trudder Lodge for the wedding of Neasa & PJ and the sun was blazing. Using the right angles, and of course the fab location, we were able to capture the image below, and although I’m not normally a fan of bright & bold colours I think this works really well.
So excited to be sharing this wedding on the blog. Siobhan & Kerril had one of those days where everything fell nicely into place. The fab Lyrath Estate was the venue, the weather behaved and when I arrived I was delighted to meet both Leanne from Vow to Wow hairstylist & Dawn from Glamour by Dawn (the local dream team !!) so I knew the girls would be in safe hands. Both Siobhan & Kerril were so great to work with, no fuss, laid back and most importantly – ready to kiss on command !!! I really enjoyed being part of their big day and was delighted with how the final photos turned out with one of them winning an award with the IPPA / Bank of Ireland photographer of the yer 2017. I love shooting at the Cliff at Lyons, so was really looking forward to the wedding of Lisa & Brian especially after having a chat over coffee on the build-up to the day and seeing that their wishes for the day matched perfectly with mine, relaxed informal photography, all while using the fab surroundings to create a few timeless images with the WOW factor. Turing up at Lisas parents house I was delighted to see that make-up was being done by the very talented Laura Kay and hair being looked after by the equally talented Leanne Nolan of Vow to Wow. Even the weather played ball making the day a real “If Carlsberg did weddings” day – it’s no wonder that a couple of my images from the day have got on to win awards at the IPPA Photographer of the Year competition. Delighted to be announced as a finalist in the IPPA / Bank of Ireland Professional Photographer of the year 2017.
These awards are voted on by our peers so it makes them very special and although I have no ideas of winning, it’s fantastic to be involved and included among so many talented craftspersons. It’s been a few years since I shot at the Millhouse and I was really looking forward to going back. I wasn’t disappointed – stunning venue, extremely laid back and relaxed couple along with fab weather. Watch out for a sneak peek over the coming weeks, but here’s one to keep you going
