Although my main photographic style on your wedding day is very relaxed and unobtrusive I am a firm believer in achieving a balance on the day. We make sure to capture the details, the hidden moments, the fun etc. but we also make sure to get the family photos, bridal party photos and some bride & groom photos. The bride & groom shots are not overly rigid, they would probably be more directed than posed, but, if the chance arises for a wow moment we will grab it !!

The key to our work on the day is to ensure that each bride & groom get to spend as much time as possible with their families & friends without any compromise on the final images.

Most couples pray for the sun on their wedding day, it lifts the spirits, means people can drink “al fresco” and puts everyone in good form……apart from your wedding photographer !!! Strong sun can be much harder to manage than bad weather, people squinting, strong shadows, bleached colours etc….luckily, most professional photographers can handle these conditions. Whereas a dull overcast day, with some cloud detail would be perfect for photos, you can use the sun to your advantage. Recently I was back in the stunning Trudder Lodge for the wedding of Neasa & PJ and the sun was blazing. Using the right angles, and of course the fab location, we were able to capture the image below, and although I’m not normally a fan of bright & bold colours I think this works really well.

So excited to be sharing this wedding on the blog. Siobhan & Kerril had one of those days where everything fell nicely into place. The fab Lyrath Estate was the venue, the weather behaved and when I arrived I was delighted to meet both Leanne from Vow to Wow hairstylist & Dawn from Glamour by Dawn (the local dream team !!) so I knew the girls would be in safe hands. Both Siobhan & Kerril were so great to work with, no fuss, laid back and most importantly – ready to kiss on command !!! I really enjoyed being part of their big day and was delighted with how the final photos turned out with one of them winning an award with the IPPA / Bank of Ireland photographer of the yer 2017. Winter weddings are not always dark & damp affairs, very often the days are crisp and, with the early sunsets (and if you know what you are doing !!) you can create wonderful warm images. We had limited time at Lyrath Estate during Eimear & Williams wedding, but, with the sun playing ball, and a bit of know-how, we came up with this shot and I quite like it.

Sometimes things just come together, the light, the location, the couple. Was walking to a vantage point for a few pics of Deirdre & John and peered through the trees to see them sneak a kiss and the sun popped out to give them a nice backlight.
