classical wedding photography
I was looking forward to photographing Kathleen & Tonys wedding as, not only had I never shot in the Stationhouse Hotel previously, but we were also planning to take a short trip to the wonderful Bective Abbey which now has a small carpark & paths. In the past it was a jump over a fence & skipping up an overgrown trail (not ideal in a wedding dress !!). The weather on the day really behaved itself and Kathleen & Tony were an absolute pleasure to work with. I was also very impressed with the super grounds in the Stationhouse and in particular with the staff who were fantatsic & very helpful, I am looking forward to working there again shortly. Unfortunately, on the day, the great enemy of any photographer caught up with me – time !! Before we knew it, dusk was falling, tummies were rumbling but we had managed to get all the photos we needed. I have uploaded a small selection of pics below, just click on any for a slightly larger version & if you happen to know the happy couple feel free to leave a message.
The final round of the IPPA photographer of the year has just finished. This year, I have managed to achieve 12 gold, 19 silver, and 2 bronze awards. The vast majority of the awards have been for my wedding reportage work, but a few classical wedding images did sneak in there, along with a couple of other, non-wedding related categories. Overall I am quite happy with the results, but also determined to achieve more next year !! Next up are the annual awards, I can enter up to three images for the individual awards, and, at this stage, I have qualified to submit a portfolio selection in both reportage and classical wedding. I have uploaded the gold award images below (will bore you all with the silver at a later stage !!) so feel free to take a look. You can just click on any image for a slightly larger version. Thanks & regards – Kevin
The results were issued yesterday from the second round of the IPPA Photographer of the year. I had promised myself this year to make a special effort when submitting entries, choose the images carefully etc. but unfortunately “real life” caught up with me this month so I had to put in a slightly rushed job of 10 entries. Due to this, I didn’t have high expectations, so I was very happy when awarded 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze award on the night. I was particularly happy to achieve 4 Gold in Wedding Reportage which is my passion. Wedding Reportage can be described as many things – candid, documentary etc. and is essentially the art of storytelling through photography, and lets face it, we all love a good story !!
Images uploaded below & thanks for reading.
