Christina & Christopher Feedback

classical wedding photography

September 22, 2020 by Kevin Morris

In the current climate it was lovely to receive a card from Christina & Christopher thanking me for their photos (again!) and also sharing their wonderful news.

“Thank you so much for capturing our wedding day so beautifully last year ! We are so grateful to have had our special day surrounded by our friends & family & having all those beautiful photos to capture the memories is extremely special to us”

This was a match made in heaven as my style of relaxed and contemporary shooting tied in perfectly with their personalities and what they wanted to get out of the day.

Due to the Covid pandemic Micro-Weddings have become par for the course these days. I thought I would share one from a few years ago. I met Ramtin for a quick nerve settling coffee on Westland Row and from there we headed up to Merrion Square where Niamh arrived for a first look. We then took a stroll through Merrion Square, headed up along the canal towards the registry office and, before the ceremony we did a few family shots by the canal locks. After the ceremony we had time for a few more shots of the happy couple before they met up again with their family for a meal, to be followed later by a party for friends. Only difference now is the social distancing required !!

With the current C-19 restrictions and lockdown many couples have had to sadly postpone their big day to later in 2020 or to 2021. However, some are deciding to tie the knot on their original day and opting for a micro-wedding within the current guidelines and social distancing etiquette. It may surprise many, but micro-weddings have been around for years in Ireland.  Mainly these would be considered “elopement weddings” and traditionally would be foreign couples coming to Ireland to take their vows, but I have also covered many weddings for Irish couples with a small and intimate ceremony followed by a meal with family and a party for friends at a later stage. What a nice idea this is, you can still have your official wedding, albeit in a much more intimate fashion, and follow up when restrictions are lifted with a big party for friends & family, and you can always do a vow renewal ceremony on your “party day” to make it a full day experience.

Five years ago Liz and Travis traveled from California to get married in Kilronan Castle, there was just the two of them, Travis’ mam and stepdad, the celebrant, the musician and myself. The ceremony was recorded for youtube and was going to be uploaded later that day (no live streaming technology back then !), Travis’ mam & stepdad renewed their vows and I was roped in to do a reading “as gaeilge” as no-one else knew Irish ! What a wonderful day we had.

One from the archives, but one that stays in the memory is Jane & Barrys big day at Horetown House.  Such a happy wonderful day filled with laughter, tears and fabulous personal touches designed by the very talented Jane. From the vintage 20’s wedding dress, through to the stunning table plan it really was a photographers dream, add in one of my favourite venues, Horetown House, a warm welcome and neverending smiles and it really was a bit of a Carlsberg moment ! Hopefully the images below will give you a flavour of the day.

I was thrilled to be asked to photograph Katie & Nicks wedding, not only are they a fab couple, but my father actually shot the wedding of Katies grandparents – the circle of life.
I had met Katie & Nick when they were over from London planning their day and straight away I knew we were a great match. Relaxed and fun loving, if their day was to match their personalities we would be onto a winner – and so it proved !
On the day the weather was fab, the welcome sincere and the venue was just perfect. After the wonderful ceremony we grabbed a few shots outside and followed up with summer drinks in the walled garden.
The afternoon flew by in a haze of laughs, hugs and the occasional photo, and before we knew it the dance floor was filling up with earnest moves and disco grooves.
A fantastic day filled with fun, laughter and above all love. It was a privilege to be part of it and I was so happy to hear from them afterwards.

Hi Kevin,

Just to let you know I collected the photos from our local post office yesterday and to say we are over the moon would be an understatement! We sat and looked through all the images and laughed and cried whilst remembering the greatest day of our lives!
Thank you so much – we are beyond thrilled!

With the current crisis dominating all our newsfeeds, I thought it would be nice to share a bit of love, and one of the happiest, “smiliest” weddings I shot last year. Christina & Christopher got married in Sligo, with a quick stop in Sligo IT, followed by Rosses Point Beach before we arrived back at the Radisson Blu, and the party rocked on into the night. With such a warm & welcoming couple and working alongside Pink Lime Studios for video the day went like a dream from start to finish. The beautiful scenery of the Sligo coast was the perfect backdrop for some stunning photos, and with Scruffy Duffy on entertainment and Harlequin providing the music the day moved from fun & chilled to chaos and laughter on the dance floor. What a wonderful day to be part of !
Was also thrilled to hear back from Christina & Christopher when they received their photos.

Morning Kevin,

Just wanted to say thank you so much for the wedding pics I got them yesterday. It was a late night last night going through them all and we absolutely loved them and the box they came in is just beautiful and something we will always have. Do not know how we are going to pick which ones to frame and which ones to use for the thank you cards I keep thinking I have found my favourite of ours and then I come across another.

Thanks so much for capturing our special day you snapped away in the background and we never even noticed you were there you did exactly what I wanted natural unposed shots of our natural unpolished selves

Thanks again for everything!!!

Warmest regards

Christina and Christopher Xxx
