Arlene & Pierre – St Patricks Church Kilquade & Tinakilly House

contemporary wedding photography

September 2, 2014 by Kevin Morris

We really had a great day recently photographing Arlene & Pierres wedding. The bride & groom, as well as their families were so laid back and relaxed, the lovely quaint church in Wicklow really added to the day, and the fabulous Tinakilly House was stunning. The sun was shining and the venue was done up with shabby chic decor along with vintage lemonade (and lots of ice) being served while the guests chilled out on the lawns. If I had a complaint it was that it was too sunny !! But then again I’m never happy 🙂   –   hope you like the pics.

Had a lovely day photographing Deirdre & Joels wedding at Horetown House recently. Was great to meet up with previous couples (I had photographed Deirdres brothers wedding) and the welcome back from Kate & Niamh in Horetown (along with a pot of coffee) was just what I needed after a long drive. See attached pics for a flavour of the day.

Although a short blog on Aoife & Dannys wedding is in the offing, I thought I would share with you one image from their day. Taken looking out over Lough Tay, on the road to Kippure Estate, just an hour or so before Bertha (the storm :)) hit. Although I operate primarily in the background on the day, when presented with an opportunity to create such a stunning image you grab it with both hands !!

It’s always nice when you know at least some of the main wedding party. So was the case when photographing Louise & James wedding as I had previously shot a wedding for Louises brother Shane, who married Sinead, who also acted as Louises bridesmaid, might sound a bit confusing, but trust me, I felt at home !!! St Feichins church in Fore seems to be a magnet for rain, as, yet again it lashed out of the heavens meaning a visit to the wonderful ruins of Fore Abbey was out of the question. On arrival at Clonabreany the sky was clear and the sun was shining so we managed to get a few outdoor pics.

It’s amazing how much work goes into the preparation of the reception room. The bride & groom, the venue and perhaps a wedding planner / co-ordinator work together to ensure that all aspects of the venue convey the ambience and the general “look” of the wedding. The touches unique to each couple, the colour scheme, the favours, the table dressings all combine to make each wedding unique. As a photographer being hired to document the day, I always take a little time to capture these details, they might never make it into an album, but they are an intrinsic part of the day.

As my style is mainly reportage and capturing the day unobtrusively I often get asked if I do the “detail shots”…..you know, the shoes, the dress, the flowers etc. These are all part of the day, the  individual touches, the stunning dresses & the killer shoes, the hand crafted bouquets and carefully thought out table plans, and therefore form part of the story of the day, so I make sure to set aside some time to capture what I can. See attached for a small cross section of “detail” shots taken mainly from 2013 shoots, with a few oldies but goldies thrown in for good measure !

Just click on the play icon for the slideshow to start (bottom right corner of film strip) and there is also an option for full screen but you might lose some quality    🙁
