Chris & Phil – Dublin City Wedding

Reportage Photography

August 8, 2016 by Kevin Morris

Spent a lovely couple of hours with Chris & Phil as they officially tied the knot in Dublins Registry office at the end of July. The weather stared off a bit wet as we left Brooks Hotel, but the rain lifted as we reached Stephens Green and headed on through Merrion Square and on to the registry office. It was a simple, informal but a very meaningful celebration and the happiness was infectious. I left before lunch with a huge smile on my face. ready to take on the weekend !! I’m currently taking bookings for 2018 & have some availability remaining for 2017 so feel free to get in touch 🙂

Often an overused phrase, but a huge part of wedding photography is capturing those little moments, being in the right place, at the right time, but also being in the background allowing these moments to happen. I love the look of pure love & proudness as Sineads Mam looks at her daughter before she leaves for the church. These can’t be posed or redone and, for me, in years to come, these will be the photos that mean the most.

January & February are strange times for wedding photogaphers – it’s a very busy time, but very few photos are being taken. A huge amount of time goes into clearing backlogs after the Christmas rush and answering enquiries as Jan & Feb traditionally have the largest volume of enquiries, between couples from this year panicking, and couples from next year planning ahead. Then we are also getting our cameras, lenses & other equipment serviced and prepped for this years weddings, as well as formatting drives and cards so, when things get manic again, we can just concentrate on the important bit…taking photos !! I also have a couple of other things in process….watch out for exciting news & developments over the coming weeks 🙂  So it’s nearly goodbye to 2015 (just a few weddings left) and hello to 2016 🙂

I like to have a balance in my wedding photos, a few formals, a few nice shots of the happy couple, but I concentrate on the unseen moments, the fun, the smiles, or the downright funny. I’m hoping this wasn’t a high powered business call 🙂

Kevin was our photographer for our wedding in September. From the moment I met him months earlier I knew he was going to be great!!! Kevin is such a nice guy and really puts you at ease- this is very important when U are spending the day with someone who is taking your photo!! Kevin came to my mams house on morning of wedding and stayed right though until the first dances. He captured some really fantastic images of the day…. Your wedding photographs are so important, something you only get one chance at…. Anyone out there looking for a photographer, do yourself a favour and book Kevin. You won’t regret it. Thanks Kevin!
