Geraldine & Gavin – Crossabeg & Step House Hotel Borris

reportage wedding photography

April 16, 2013 by Kevin Morris

Friday 12th April took me back down the N11 to Wexford for the wedding of Geraldine & Gavin. Luckily, despite the cold, the weather more or less behaved and Geraldine was delighted to meet a surprise guest (of the four legged variety) after a lovely ceremony in Crossabeg Church. Then it was off to familiar territory and the wonderful Step House hotel in Borris. Great couple, great guests, great venue….my kind of wedding !

It’s always great to get relatively local weddings, not only does it relieve time pressures but it usually means that there are no need for directions. Jennifer & Dara got married in Skerrries where I (mis) spent much of my youth, and then on to Knightsbrook in Trim where I covered a couple of weddings previously. Although the day was dry, it was bitterly cold and an icy wind cut through us while grabbing a few shots around Red Island. If you add up the fact that the wedding was local, the weather was dry, the bridesmaids liked my aftershave, the priest wore a Harry Potter cape, the lads wore white trainers and my brief was to keep posed shots to a minimum – I couldn’t go wrong. See below for a few pics from the day.

Always nice when couples take time out to drop you a line after they have received their photos. Just got this lovely email from Louise & Ciaran who got married in Mount Wolesley on New Years Eve. (I have included a few pics from the day as well)

Hi Kevin,

Can I just say thank you, thank you, thank you. My folks brought over our little parcel on Monday and Ciarán’s parents where over for dinner also so it was the perfect opportunity to look at the photos. Which we love.

First of all the lovely keep sake box is a really nice touch & having everything on a usb key is such a great idea. I really like that. We started with the avi file which is a perfect way to show everyone your photos. We loved the music you put to the avi file also.

I haven’t stopped looking at them since. I never realised I made so many facial expressions! The photos are timeless & you really did capture the relaxed, fun atmosphere of our wedding day. It was lovely to see part of the day that I had missed and also for Ciarán to see what was happening behind closed doors. Lots of giggling & champagne!

We really want to thank you and let you know that we never felt like we had a photographer there on the day. You made us feel so comfortable and relaxed. Your photos are beautiful and its so nice to have these memories captured forever.

Wishing you all the best & hopefully we:ll see you again.

Take care

Louise & Ciarán

An intimate & cosy wedding was how Ruth & Jonathan described their wedding plans, and it proved to be exactly that. From the stunning venue, Trudder Lodge, the planning & little touches provided by Collette of Elegant Events to the friendly & welcoming family & friends. It’s rare that at a wedding the photographer gets to know most of the guests by name, but that was the case on 28th March. The snow had melted and everyone was welcomed into Trudder lodge by blazing open fires and a bouncy castle out back for the younger guests (and those young at heart). It’s difficult to narrow down the images to try and give a feel for the day but hopefully the photos below will give you some idea.

If you happen to know either Ruth or Jonathan feel free to leave a message as they will be checking in from time to time. Just hit the play icon on the bottom right to start the slideshow and there is a full screen option available.

During 2012 I was lucky enough to visit some stunning new venues around the country, revisit familiar venues and was privileged to be a part of, and document, the wedding day of fantastic couples. I am looking forward to more of the same throughout 2013 and hopefully will keep everyone up to date via facebook etc.  See attached gallery for a selection of images from 2012 which, in my opinion, showcase my style of work which is mainly informal & documentary, while still capturing some more classical style (without being over-fussy). This is not a “best –of” nor is it a selection of my favourite images, just a collection of images which take you through from preparations to entrance for the meal. Hope you enjoy.

I never know if its a good or a bad thing to photograph a friends wedding. I needn’t have worried as everything (bar the weather !!) fell nicely into place for Lorna & Eddies wedding on the 05th Jan.

With the ceremony in the stunning St Patricks Church and the reception in the lovely Trim Castle Hotel (just a 5 minute walk away) the afternoon flew and before we knew it the bell was ringing for the meal.

I have a few pics from the day below – just click on the play icon (bottom right) to start the slideshow, and, if you happen to know either Lorna or Eddie feel free to leave a message.
