Louise & Ciaran – Mount Wolesley Hotel and Spa – NYE 2012

reportage wedding photography

January 4, 2013 by Kevin Morris

I hadn’t actually met either Louise or Ciaran before their wedding in Mount Wolesley on New Years Eve but I needn’t have worried. Not only were they both incredibly laid back, but we had a huge number of things in common – including the fact that the Ciarans dad used to be my boss way back in my civil service days !!! The day started with torrential rain in Carlow but had dried up before the lovely ceremony in the hotel. We had a quick dash out to the stunning gardens for a few photos then Louise & Ciaran headed back to the hotel in a very trendy golf buggy !! The staff in the hotel couldn’t have done any more to help, so a great day was had by all. I have a few pics below which hopefully capture the atmosphere of the day, just click the play icon on the bottom right to start the slideshow. There is also an option for fullscreen and, if you happen to know Louise, Ciaran (or both!!) feel free to leave a message for them as the will be checking in from time to time.

Sometimes everything just falls nicely into place. This was the case with Joanne & Ciarans wedding. Not only was it a local wedding for me, but everything ran to time and the weather behaved itself (although the goosebumps were starting to show by 4pm !!).

A lovely relaxed day, a wonderful couple, great locations and lovely light….what more could a photographer ask for ?

See attached slideshow for a small selection of pics from the day. Just click on the play icon (bottom right) and you can also view in fullscreen if you wish. (feel free to leave a comment for the bride & groom).

I was delighted when I got Elaine & Daves booking to handle their wedding photos as, not only were they a very relaxed couple, but their reception was in the Step House Hotel in Borris, one of my favourite venues in Ireland. The morning started very calmly with Elaine, her two sisters & mother chilling out and sipping champagne while getting their hair & make-up done. When I got to the church the lads were shaking, but that probably had something to do with the baltic weather conditions rather than nerves. After a lovely ceremony in the church in Borris, it was 5 mins up the road to the Step House, decorated for Christmas (a bit earlier than normal, but Elaine & Dave are big Christmas fans) and with the open fires blazing. Unfortunately the weather just got worse so we couldn’t manage any outdoor pics, but this meant everyone kept warm !!

I have a few pics from the day below, and, if you happen to know either Elaine or Dave (or both!) feel free to leave a comment. Just click on the play icon (bottom right) to start the slideshow and there is also an option for full screen if you wish.

On the way down to Kilkenny for Bridget & Deans wedding I drove through some of the heaviest rain I have seen, but, by the time I arrived in Stoneyford, the rain had dried up and there were even glimpses of blue in the sky.  After the lovely ceremony it was off to the stunning Butler House in Kilkenny City for photos before heading on out to the Newpark Hotel for the reception. One of the things I learned during the day was that you need to have the patience of a saint if you intend driving through Kilkenny at rush hour !!!

I have a few pics below from the day, just click on the play icon at the bottom right to get the slideshow going, and there is an option for fullscreen if you want. If you happen to know either Bridget or Dean, feel  free to leave a message for them.

I love “firsts” at weddings. Have had a few this year, but at Polly & Kens wedding there was a first to really take the biscuit. Halfway into the ceremony the priest produced a brown paper bag from behind the altar, and gave the bride & groom a present of a bottle of red wine with their first anniversary date written on it, and instructions to keep it till then. Being in the shadow of Mount Leinster really didn’t help the weather with a constant mist, but it did little to dampen spirits of the guests in the small church in Myshall. Following a very quick few shots in the local park it was off to the Lord Bagenal Hotel in Leighlinbridge for the ceremony where there served up killer scones and kept me happy with hot black coffee !!

I have a few pics from the day below. Just click on the “play” button at the bottom right, and, if you happen to know either Polly or Ken feel free to leave a message for them.

I was so looking forward to Dara & Bobbys wedding. Not only were they a very laid back couple, but the ceremony & reception were being held in my “local” hotel – the Waterside. In fact, so close was I that I dropped down later that evening to get a few snaps of their entertainment provided by “Thosefireguys” bravely running around in vests with a baltic breeze blowing in from the sea (although perhaps the flames kept them warm). The weather was fine, but perhaps a bit too sunny for photos without squints (I’m never happy !!) so we had to head into the shade for most of the pics. We did however get a small bit of time on the beach with the happy couple. The staff at the Waterside were as helpful as ever, and, when I left the celebrations later that night their dj, Ruairi Finnegan, had the crowd hopping, trying to work off the large candy buffet which had been demolished !!

I have a few pics from the day below, and, if you happen to know either Dara or Bobby feel free to leave a message. Just click on the play incon (bottom right) for the slideshow to start the slideshow.
