Siobhan & Kerril – Lyrath Estate

documentary wedding photography

May 4, 2017 by Kevin Morris

So excited to be sharing this wedding on the blog. Siobhan & Kerril had one of those days where everything fell nicely into place. The fab Lyrath Estate was the venue, the weather behaved and when I arrived I was delighted to meet both Leanne from Vow to Wow hairstylist & Dawn from Glamour by Dawn (the local dream team !!) so I knew the girls would be in safe hands. Both Siobhan & Kerril were so great to work with, no fuss, laid back and most importantly – ready to kiss on command !!! I really enjoyed being part of their big day and was delighted with how the final photos turned out with one of them winning an award with the IPPA / Bank of Ireland photographer of the yer 2017. Hope you enjoy the images below.

Delighted to be announced as a finalist in the IPPA / Bank of Ireland Professional Photographer of the year 2017.

These awards are voted on by our peers so it makes them very special and although I have no ideas of winning, it’s fantastic to be involved and included among so many talented craftspersons. See attached for my final panel of images that made the cut and a big thanks to all the couples who put their trust in me to capture their day.

It’s been a few years since I shot at the Millhouse and I was really looking forward to going back. I wasn’t disappointed – stunning venue, extremely laid back and relaxed couple along with fab weather. Watch out for a sneak peek over the coming weeks, but here’s one to keep you going

From an epic engagement shoot through to the dancing, Sam & Barrys wedding went like a dream. A nice relaxed atmosphere from start to finish and, to top it all off, some lovely words after the happy couple received their photos.

We can’t tell you how pleased we were with our own photos. You helped make the day the most memorable day of our lives. We couldn’t have asked for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience with your help. You will be happy to know we spent a number of weeks after we received them showing them off and raving to whoever would listen as to how happy we were with them. Thank you.

Delighted that, in the final heat of the IPPA photographer of the year, I received eight awards, six “Highly Commended” and two hard to achieve “Merits”. These images are judged by my fellow peers and professionals so it means a lot to receive any awards, let alone eight !

One thing you get from experience is being able to anticipate certain moments and trying (and hoping) to be in the right place, at the right time. No chance to do things over, you have to get everything right, composition, exposure, focus etc….when it all clicks (no pun intended) into place you end up with a “moment”. One of the bridesmaids had told me that morning that Sineads Dad wore his heart on his sleeve and not to be surprised if he got emotional, so, when Sinead was ready, I positioned myself at the back of the room behind her, had the camera set up as I wanted (I didn’t want to be bursting out flash) and hoped……..2016-end-of-year-032
