It was a busy Bank Holiday weekend, with my daughters confirmation, my own wedding anniversary and shooting Kathryn & Justins wedding way over in Achill. It was great to revisit Achill as myself & the gang spent many happy family holidays there (3 in one year alone !!) and thankfully the drive has improved greatly. Having met most of Kathryns family previously I felt at home immediately and the laid back atmosphere really made my job easy. Despite the bad weather we did get a few minutes up on the Atlantic drive, but it was literally that…a few minutes, as the wind would cut you in two. Luckily, the Mulranny Park Hotel was a relatively short hop and before we knew it we were thawing out in its fab surroundings. Staying on till the first few dances really made a difference and I can’t wail till I get editing the set of images. Here are a few draft “sneak peek” images & I hope you enjoy 🙂

I had met Roisin & Niall while shooting Roisins sisters wedding a couple of years ago so was delighted when they contacted me from Singapore for their own big day. We had stunning weather and I had trips down memory lane driving through Churchtown and the old grounds of St Annes Milltown. We dropped into the Phoenix Park for a few shots and then onto Castleknock Country Club Hotel where I got dragged into join in the meal – unexpected but appreciated 🙂 As I left, the dancing was in full swing and the place was rocking. What a lovely way to spend a workday !

A lot of the feedback I get from couples is that they were delighted with the informal and unposed photos of them mingling with their guests, the laughs, the quiet, intimate and sometimes funny moments that go unnoticed. I love these shots myself, and, whereas it’s always necessary to have the few family shots, and of course some nice bride & groom portraiture, it’s the unposed shots that build up and capture the atmosphere of the day and help to flesh out the “story”.

Well that was a busy Christmas !! Had a few jobs on the lead up to the big day, but then had 5 weddings within 7 days…phew ! Will probably catch up with me over the next few days, but the adrenaline, the fun, and the welcoming wedding couples and their families made it a very exciting time. Got to visit some new stunning venues, as well as some old reliables that haven’t lost their charm – also got to try a few new techniques. It was great to be back at Thomas Prior Hall for the wedding of Sarah & Darragh. It’s such a fab venue which suits the Christmas season so well. This was very much an international affair, with the b&g both living abroad (in different countries / continents !!), and with guests flying in from all corners of the world it was a fantastic atmosphere, with everyone out to have a great time – which they did (with gusto !).
