Stress free and relaxed wedding photography

Reportage wedding

March 4, 2024 by Kevin Morris

Let’s face it, not everyone likes being in front of the camera, especially on your wedding day when you want to mingle with your family & friends and not spend all day hanging out with your photographer !!

I specialise in stress free photography, less of the stiff poses and more of a documentary style of photos. Blending into the background I capture the day as it unfolds and while we still get all the “must have” shots alongside some timeless couple shots, it’s all done with the minimum of fuss giving plenty of time for couples to chill with their guests and enjoy their day.

See below for just a few lines of feedback from happy couples.

“We didn’t even realise some of these photos were being taken, you were so natural and not intrusive at all” Vanessa & Dan

“He managed to capture the essence of our day perfectly, all while being invisible !!” Amy & Richelle

“Thank you so much for the amazing photography and thank you for being so easy-going and relaxed”. Aileen & Colm.

“Thanks again for the way you approached the day and for the way you made everyone so comfortable & relaxed.” Niamh & Greg

“It was only when we saw the photos that we realised he had a birds eye view and caought so many of the candid moments, he put us all at ease and was great to have around on the day” Helena & Joe

Is the phrase “capture the moment” overused in photography circles ?? Probably, but it can sum up an image, taken in a split second, that won’t be repeated again. It is literally, capturing that moment and freezing it forever, a sneaky kiss on a wedding day, the tears of joy on a parents face, the innocence (or not !!) of children, or just a look, a smile, unposed, unsolicited by the photographer. When we are photographing weddings we keep the posing to a minimum as much as possible and look out for these moments, hoping to catch them – it’s not always possible, but sometimes everything just falls into place. Between the wedding meal and the start of the dancing Alan went for a walk with his daughter, away from the crowds,  just a bit of fresh air for the two of them. Luckily I was outside as well, cooling off after a long warm day and was delighted to “capture this moment”.

So that’s another year in the can. Many thanks to everyone who put their trust in me for their big day, I met so many great couples, warm & welcoming families and my fair share of slightly mad bridesmaids and there was never a dull moment. I got to visit some new venues this year as well as revisit some old favourites. We really have some stunning venues throughout the country and such hardworking staff to ensure the day goes without a hitch (apart from one major one !!!)
A large percentage of my weddings come from referrals, so I also get the added bonus of meeting up with lots of previous couples at their friends weddings. I am extremely grateful for all referrals – they are the bookings that always mean the most.
This coming year is looking bright with a few more new venues along with meeting some families for the second (and third !!) times. I am fairly tied up through to the end of August with just a few select dates available, September through to November has better availability but the far side of Christmas up to NYE is booked out.
If you would like your photography to be relaxed, unobtrusive but with a bit of the WOW factor thrown in why not drop me a line to check availability.

For the month of January I am running a special, for all weddings booked & deposit paid. Book a standard digital package and receive a free upgrade to a deluxe USB presentation box which includes 100 6*4 inch photos from your day carefully selected to create your personal storyline. Book any standard album package and get a free album upgrade from 30 to 40 pages. This is only applicable for January bookings, but can be applied to 2017 and 2018 weddings. Details of package & prices are available through the website.

See below for a selection of images from throughout the year – not a best of nor a collection of favourites, just a few images that sum up my style of photography and how I try to balance the small moments with stunning wedding images.

Have been quiet on here for the last while as work has me swamped (a great complaint !!). May is traditionally my busiest month between weddings, communions & confirmations and now I can focus on editing and sending out the remaining weddings from the last few months.

Once again, over the last 5 months, I realised how lucky I am to do what I do. Not only do I love photography, but I have met some wonderful, friendly & quirky couples…..and don’t get me started on the bridesmaids !! I have also worked with old colleagues from the wedding industry, visited some new venues, called back to familiar ones and taken bookings for some potentially really exciting weddings.

As I have said in previous posts, my “mission” on the day is to create stunning, artistic images, along with informal shots capturing the atmosphere – all the while making it as painless and smooth a process as possible, giving each couple plenty of time to mingle with their friends & family. If that sounds like what you want for your big day just drop me a line through the contact page and we can take things from there.

In the meantime, see below for a small selection of a few of the weddings so far – hope you enjoy 🙂

I had met Roisin & Niall while shooting Roisins sisters wedding a couple of years ago so was delighted when they contacted me from Singapore for their own big day. We had stunning weather and I had trips down memory lane driving through Churchtown and the old grounds of St Annes Milltown. We dropped into the Phoenix Park for a few shots and then onto Castleknock Country Club Hotel where I got dragged into join in the meal – unexpected but appreciated 🙂 As I left, the dancing was in full swing and the place was rocking. What a lovely way to spend a workday !
