Nadine & Stephen

reportage wedding photography

August 27, 2011 by Kevin Morris

I had been looking forward to Nadine & Stephens wedding for a while, not only had I worked with Nadine previously (she had been bridesmaid at a wedding I covered last year) but the reception was at one of my favourite venues – Ballymagarvey Village. Unfortunately the weather didn’t play ball, on my arrival at the church the downpour started, continued through the ceremony in the beautiful Church of St Myra in Kinsealy and was still going when the ceremony finished. No meet & greet at the door, just a dash to the waiting car ! It was just as well that at the start of the mass, the priest told everyone to get out of their seats and to have a chat and introduce themselves to anyone & everyone nearby. This went down a storm with the congregation and set the scene for a lovely ceremony. On arrival at Ballymagarvey, the clouds parted and we were treated to glorious sunshine right up to the meal. I have uploaded a few pics from the day below, and, if you happen to know Nadine or Stephen, feel free to leave a message as they will be checking in on the blog while on honeymoon.

Apparently, according to scientific fact, the 17th of June is the happiest day of the year. Well yesterday it was the case for Sharon & John and every duck in Ireland !! Driving down to Arklow yesterday in the downpour I fully expected Noah to sail past. The ceremony was in the stunning church at Clara Vale, I would have loved to get a couple of shots of the location but I hadn’t brought my wetsuit. After the lovely ceremony we decided to head to Avondale House in an attempt for a few photos and managed to blag our way out of the rain & into the house. The staff were great (probably took pity on us) and brought us into the drawing room where we dried off and got a few shots. When we arrived at the Woodenbridge Hotel,  it was still pouring rain, but we were greeted by a large open fire in the bar, and yes, this was the middle of June !! The staff in the hotel were great, we had to get a few family shots done but of course couldn’t go outside, so they cleared out half the restaurant to give us a bit of space.  I have uploaded a few draft pics from the day below, and, if you know the couple feel free to leave a message for them.

It was back back to the highways & byways on Friday 10th. from Narraghmore to the beautiful Crookstown Church and then on to the Johnstown House Hotel & Spa for the reception. As Lynnette & Eamonn live in Australia they had to arrange everything from afar, and it took some organising to ensure that everything was right on the day, and it was, even the weather, which had been forecast as heavy rain, behaved itself. The fabulous crockery, which had been ordered in seperately, added a classic touch, along with the individual table settings / favours and the childrens table was packed with enough sweets & activity packs to keep an army of them happy.  Have uploaded just a few of the many pics taken to hopefully give you an idea of the day. Hope you enjoy them, just click on any of them for a (slightly) larger version and, if you are a friend of the happy couple, feel free to leave a messge for them as they will be checking in regularly.

I was a bit apprehensive arriving to photograph the wedding of Hazel & Kieran last Saturday – 28th May. For some reason, Hazel had a fear of getting her photo taken and had basically told me that she really didn’t want any pics taken of her !! I don’t know why she was so nervous as she looked fab, turning up in a Delorean which was in keeping with the eighties theme of the wedding. The tables were all dressed with retro sweets & pin badges, they even managed to find those red plastic fish that curl up and tell you your fortune. The table plan was done up in an A-Team style, there was a frame at the bottom of the stairs & props for polaroid shots of the (willing) guests in various poses, and it was all set off by the lads and their simple dress code – wear your converse. The simple yet touching ceremony was held in a marquee on the grounds of Malahide Rugby Club with the reception being held in the clubhouse, and, the day went so well, with such a relaxed atmosphere (helped by the 99’s on demand) that Hazel did let me take a few shots of herself & Kieran and I think you will agree that they look great together (check out the shoes !). So, if you have a problem (such as being camera shy), if no-one else can help and if you can find me, maybe you can hire me and watch as my plan comes together !

I am really looking forward to processing the images from this unique wedding, but, for the time being, I have uploaded a few draft shots below. Just click on any of them for a (slightly) larger version. Hope you enjoy.
