Balanced Wedding Photography

wedding photographer

January 21, 2018 by Kevin Morris

Although my main photographic style on your wedding day is very relaxed and unobtrusive I am a firm believer in achieving a balance on the day. We make sure to capture the details, the hidden moments, the fun etc. but we also make sure to get the family photos, bridal party photos and some bride & groom photos. The bride & groom shots are not overly rigid, they would probably be more directed than posed, but, if the chance arises for a wow moment we will grab it !!

The key to our work on the day is to ensure that each bride & groom get to spend as much time as possible with their families & friends without any compromise on the final images.

If this sounds like what you might like for your big day contact us today to check availability.

I had a blast photographing Gillian & Michaels wedding last year. It departed from the norm in so many ways. Called out to Gillians first, then back to the lads in Knightsbrook, then back to Gillian and after the preps we had a cute first look, followed by family photos on the lawn of Gillians house. We then headed off to Trim Castle for more family & bridal party photos – and they weren’t even married yet !!!

The few photos at Trim Castle were followed by a trip to the Anglers Rest where they had their marriage ceremony. Then a few final photos up in the Phoenix Park.

Surprisingly enough the day was in no way rushed, the atmosphere was relaxed and so welcoming. I was nearly disappointed when my day was done, but I had, thanks to Gillian & Michael, fallen in love that day. They introduced me to Tim Tams (Aussie Biscuits) and although my waistline wasn’t appreciative, my tastebuds were dancing a jig !!

Always great to get positve feedback “Hi Kevin, thank you so much for the photos – they are absolutely perfect – thanks so much again, Gillian & Michael.

I had a blast shooting Shirley & Pauls wedding, so laid back but sooo much fun. The weather behaved with the fab backdrop of Dun Laoghaire as the party rocked in the beer garden of the Haddington House Hotel. Delighted to hear back from them when they received their photos.

“To say we like the photos is a complete understatement. They are nothing short of brilliant and we are delighted. You really can catch a moment and thanks so much. We could not recommend you enough. Best of luck with everything and if we ever need a photographer again you will be our only call. If anyone ever asks we will have nothing but good to say about you. You really did a great job.”

Although I love my job, feedback like this makes everything worthwhile.

Most people are delighted to have a sunny wedding day, but not most photographers…harsh light, heavy shadows and squinting guests can make photography a real challenge. Thankfully. most experienced photographers know how to work with, and combat the tough lighting conditions that the sun can cause. My most recent wedding was one such day, bright & harsh sunlight, but with the right location and positioning we were still able to come up with some lovely images.

I love shooting at the Cliff at Lyons, so was really looking forward to the wedding of Lisa & Brian especially after having a chat over coffee on the build-up to the day and seeing that their wishes for the day matched perfectly with mine, relaxed informal photography, all while using the fab surroundings to create a few timeless images with the WOW factor. Turing up at Lisas parents house I was delighted to see that make-up was being done by the very talented Laura Kay and hair being looked after by the equally talented Leanne Nolan of Vow to Wow. Even the weather played ball making the day a real “If Carlsberg did weddings” day – it’s no wonder that a couple of my images from the day have got on to win awards at the IPPA Photographer of the Year competition. Hope you enjoy a small selection of shots from the day.

My brief for Aisling & Marks wedding was simple – lots of unposed shots of friends & family enjoying themselves – suited my style perfectly. Such a relaxed & friendly couple to work with made the day even better and, despite the weather being a shocker on the day, everyone had a great time and the staff at Glasson were as helpful as always. A surprise addition of a singing waiter kept the day buzzing along till everyone hit the dancefloor with gusto. Was a privilege to be part of this great day 🙂
