Busy times with wonderful weddings

Real Weddings

June 5, 2018 by Kevin Morris

How lucky am I ?? Over the last few weeks I got to visit some stunning venues, photograph amazing weddings and more importantly, meet some wonderful loved up couples who made me feel so welcome & part of the day. We have also been blessed with some fab weather, despite my hate for strong sunshine !!! Lots of drinks on the lawn and epic photos. Throughout every day I do my very best to keep everything moving along, capturing photos with the minimum of fuss & stress, nabbing those little moments as well as the wow factor shots and making the photography aspect of the day as seamless and relaxed as possible.

Key dates are starting to fill up in 2019 and enquiries are already coming in for 2020 but on the flip side I still have some limited availability for late 2018.

Some recent feedback (always nice to get before they even see the photos !) “Absolutely amazing for my sister’s wedding, Kevin couldn’t have been more helpful fun and fantastic, he captured every special moment of the day! Cannot recommend enough thank you for everything!!!” – Megan Ryan  “Hi Kevin,Thanks so much for everything on Saturday! You helped everything run smoothly and got us all the time we wanted with our guests at the drinks reception. Thanks again for all your hard work and we look forward to our photo dispatch date.” Amy & Eoin

Why not contact us today to see if your date is still free and, in the meantime see attached for a few quick photos from this years recent weddings. I am hoping to give these the full blog treatment once the couples have received their final images.

Look forward to hearing from you 🙂

I pride myself on delivering relaxed and informal photography on your wedding day without any compromise on the final quality of the image, but, if a chance comes along for a shot, or I see something that I think would look fab I’m all over it. Luckily my planning in the run up to each wedding makes allowances for such circumstances. To illustrate the point I will explain the backstory behind the photo below as well as explain how we got there.

I had shot quite a few weddings in Seafield before and, when there were to be beach shots, we had gone down to the “public” beach at Ballymoney. This time was a little different however as Shauna & Davy had actually gotten engaged on the beach accessed through Seafield and their one “must have” shot was on this part of the strand so I wanted to make sure we got a standout shot to last a lifetime, but I also promised them we would be back at their guests by 4:15. Luckily a lot of things came together on the day. Firstly the main event manager at Seafield had volunteered to drive us there in a golf buggy, then Shaunas bridesmaid Orla hopped onto the back of the buggy to make sure all the bits & pieces were in place. Shauna helped big time by bringing along a pair of blinged up runners and of course we had a stunning day in terms of the weather. As soon as we arrived at the beach I saw the shot I wanted, but the spot was covered with kids enjoying the sun so we took a few other quick photos, once the little ones had moved on, Shauna scampered up the hill thanks to the runners and whereas a sunny day is often a pain for a photographer, the solid blue sky provided a stunning backdrop.

Within a minute I knew I had the shot I wanted, and with a couple of quick stops on the way back to the hotel it was 4:14 as we arrived at reception. Main job done, no stress, no fuss and everyone was so relaxed heading into the drinks reception all thanks to a little planning and a little help from lady luck !!

It’s becoming more & more popular these days to have either an engagement or a pre-wedding shoot. It’s actually a great idea for both the couple and the photographer. Firstly, it gets the couple used to being relaxed in front of the camera, they get used to the photographers style and it also builds up a nice rapport between everyone which should feed over in the photos on the big day itself. It also gets the photographer used to the couple, not everyone is relaxed with public displays of affection while some couples can’t keep their hands off each other !! Generally, it makes the bride and groom photos on the day that bit easier, everyone knows what to expect and stress levels are usually non-existent. It also has the added bonus of some lovely shots of the couple which can be used perhaps on invitations, for some of the decoration on the day or maybe in a signature frame where guests sign around a favourite image from the shoot. All in all it’s a win win !! I am also so lucky with where I am based as we have a choice of parkland, woodland and expansive beaches to chose from. Martina & Steve dropped out the other morning for a few shots on the (very chilly) beach and it was a nice relaxing way to start to ease me into the wedding season. Prices for an engagement shoot start at €295 to include up to an hour of photography and all your images in full high resolution and non-watermarked.

What a summer it was, I was so lucky with the happy, fun and relaxed weddings I covered. Always lots of smiles and laughs, topped off with memorable photos of the big day. Jacinta & Joes big day was no exception. They traveled home from Australia to celebrate their day in Banagher and then on to Birr. A quick stop in to the family pub where Jacintha & Joe pulled a few pints and on to blue skies and sunshine in the County Arms Hotel. Lots of laughs, lots of fun, lots of relaxed and informal photos in the lovely grounds and still plenty of time for Jacintha & Joe to mingle with their friends. We even had a few mins to pop outside that night for a few quick photos in the fairy lights & moonlight. If Carlsberg did weddings !!…….

During the summer I had the pleasure of shooting Patria & Conors big day, from Bohola up to The Diamond Coast in Enniscrone with a quick stop in Belleek Castle Woods. This was a lot of firsts for me, first time I stopped in Bohola, first time in Belleek Castle Woods and first time in the Diamond Coast. The whole day was so laid back and fun, lots of smiles and laughs and so relaxed that the time flew by, but both Patria and Conor still had plenty of time to mingle with their friends and family. One of those days when everything fell nicely into place. I’m so glad they ordered an album, it’s one thing to look at your photos on a screen, but they really come to life in an album. Have a look at the photos and try not to smile along with everyone.
